What Are Children For? The normalisation of the new death culture

“White middle-class woman posts long article explaining why she is “loving” [sic] being “child-free” and why anyone who as much as raises an eyebrow, or even appears concerned, should just fuck right off.”

Been a rash of such “doth protest too much” articles in mainstream newspapers recently, from the usual sort of first-world-problem navel-gazers.

Whereas, in reality, as any fule kno’, anyone genuinely content with their choices tends not to write defensive articles assuring us that they are fine.

This is another book I won’t be reading. Regardless of its conclusions, the very title is a blast on the dog whistle of misopedia. After all, even if one concludes that kids are a good idea, by publishing a book about that question, one has normalised the fashionable death-culture idea that a child’s very existence somehow is a serious topic for debate. You might as well ask – “what is life for?”

Try asking the same question, but instead of “children”, substitute “blacks” or “Jews” or “Arabs” or “Irish”, and see how that reads.

Appalling bigotry is how it reads, and the lack of self-awareness from these so-called academics is drearily predictable in a world where genuine inquiry must be subordinated to fashionable ideologies.
